Today, I have the honor to present you an interview with Todd Cooperider, owner of Esoteric Auto Detail. Todd was selected by AutoWeek Magazine, one of the best 9 Auto Detailers in US.
Detailing-Community: Tell us a few words about yourself...?Todd Cooperider: Professional: My name is Todd Cooperider, owner of Esoteric Auto Detail, LLC of Columbus, Ohio USA. My detailing services are also offered through NJB Automotive, and independent Ferrari service, restoration, and detailing shop here in Central Ohio. This has been a tremendous collaboration of efforts from both companies because owners of exotic automobiles can receive top-level mechanical and detailing services under one roof.
In addition to performing detailing and paint restoration services, I also author detailing articles and manage the Ask A Pro section for Detailed Image. I am responsible for selecting detailers to participate in the program, I manage the content, and I edit the articles as well.
Personal:My wife and I met while attending The Ohio State University, and we have been happily married for 20 years now. We have 2 children, 3 cats, and a dog (full house!).
DC: What made you start in detailing business?TC: Well it's something that I have been interested in since I was a kid, so I figured that it would be a wise move to take an interest and a hobby and turn it into a source of income. Unfortunately there aren't a lot of people out there who get that opportunity to do for a living what they really enjoy.
DC: What car do you drive?TC: A 2007 Acura TL Type S (black, of course!), and a 2010 Toyota Prius for my greener side.

Today, I've received through email a more explained answer to a question from the last week interview with George Pavlisko from Leatherique.
Detailing-Community: How often do you clean your car?
George Pavlisko: Interior leather maintenance and preservation, which is what we specialize in, requires a regular regime. I have a white board in my garage on which I maintain a list of things that need to be accomplished for each car. Among these regular maintenance items is that twice a year I give every car a generous application of our Leather Rejuvenator. This applies even to new cars. There is no reason to allow your new car to become dry and cracked. If you schedule your Rejuvenator application on a day when you have some sun and a little warmth and roll the windows up on your car, you can create a nice sauna inside your car that will help open the pores of the leather and allow the Rejuvenator to be absorbed more quickly. If you don’t have warmth, allow some time for it to completely soak in. Then, buff the interior lightly with a soft cloth with an ounce or two of Prestine Clean on it.
A regular interior detail would include:
1. Vacuum the interior well. Carpets first, then put the fine nozzle on the vacuum and be sure all the seams are clear of any sand or dirt.2. As you wash the car, open each door and clean the door sills well with a soft scrub brush. If you have a trim on your sill, pay attention to that, polish and get your entrance looking it’s best.3. Use a soft brush to remove all dust and debris from all the nooks and crannies of the dash, shifter boot, door handles and door panel.4. If you are doing a Rejuvenator treatment, start applying the Rejuvenator from the top of the front seats, then work down to the seat, then arm rests, steering wheel and door panel

words about yourself...?George Pavlisko Jr: My love of
autos began as an apprentice to my dad who did ground up restorations of old pre
war classics, including Auburns, Bentleys, Dusenbergs, Jags, Benz, BMW, and RR.
I did all the most labor intensive tasks, including polishing bolts before
replacing them. I learned to paint cars by using spray equipment to lay down a
neat pattern with soap and water to wash the garage doors. The restoration of
leather came about because of fierce competition in the car show circuit. There
are always the guys who would “buy” their trophy by paying for new leather, and
having someone else do the work. My dad did all his own work. Through trial and
error working he formulated our products to actually restore the luxurious
suppleness and deep clean leather as there was nothing on the market that could
do that. The dyes were in response to my mom saying of the interior of our ’39
Bentley, “the car looks lovely George, too bad the interior is still that drab
shade of brown. It would look much nicer a shade of green to match the paint”.
So my dad formulated our safe water based dyes for leather when everything else
was lacquer and set the industry standard for environmen
Now, I will present you an interview with Richard Lin aka OctaneGuy, the producer of Black WOW.
Detailing-Community.com: Tell us a few words about yourself...?Richard (OctaneGuy): I'm Richard (OctaneGuy) from ShowCarDetailing.com and I love black paint. There is no better color for a car. However you have to be OCD to maintain it.
DC: What made you start in detailing business?OctaneGuy: My old friend and then business partner Mike Phillips showed me the benefits of using a system, and it really just took off from there.
DC: What year did you start selling detailing products?OctaneGuy: 2005 was the year I launched my first instructional DVD, "How to Use the PC for Show Car Results"
DC: What car do you drive?OctaneGuy: I own a highly modded 220whp custom painted 2005 MINI Cooper S with the license plate OBSSSSD. I also drive a classic 1988 Toyota MR2 that is mostly stock.
DC: How often do you detail your car?OctaneGuy: Now that I have a garage again, I'm doing it weekly or after it rains. But I feel guilty working on my car instead of working on a customers car so I tend to choose the system that gets the job done quickest while achieving the results I want.
DC: What detailing product do you like the most?OctaneGuy: Prima Hydro. It's a synthetic spray wax that you spray on and wipe off. I use it on my wheels, door jambs, and anywhere that I want protection without the hassles of traditional products where you have to le

SWISSVAX – The early days
The history and tradition of Swissvax, a unique automotive and marine care system which until today still is hand made in Switzerland, reaches back to the 30’s of the last century.
Like many other extraordinary and ingenious products, also the famous Swissvax waxes have originated from a kitchen table – namely the kitchen table of the Swiss family Anwander – as a product originally developed for the very own sophisticated needs of grandfather Anwander.
In these early days, the old chemist’s store of the family Anwander in Zürich served as the laboratory and the manufacturing site for the first tins of precious “Antikwachs”, a wax formulation specifically engineered and refined for the care and protection needs of antique furniture and lacquers. Since the first tins of Antikwachs, the Anwander family has dedicated all its passion, ambition and the ultimate sense for perfection to paintwork, lacquers and waxes – a continuous and strenuous pursuit for the finest products in the marketplace until today spanning over more than three generations.
The nowadays world-renowned automotive waxes were originally developed for the exclusive private use of grandfather Anwander who – like many other successful inventors of the last century – didn’t find a product meeting his sophisticated demands on the market and therefore decided to create his own wax which for the first time managed to satisfy his requirements. This first creation was the incipience of the extraordinary history of a family business which has dedicated all activities to engineer and produce the finest

Wolfgang Deep Gloss Paint Sealant 3.0 is a paint sealant, which will change the way you think about paint sealants. However, after reading this, your perception about paint sealants might change drastically. This liquid-like glossy shimmer improves all colors and types of paint. Wolfgang Deep Gloss Paint Sealant 3.0 offers gloss and protection to your car. This paint sealant uses polymer technology, which makes it the best.
Wolfgang Deep Gloss Paint Sealant 3.0 was designed to meet the requirements for the paint protectant, which reflects the look of carnauba wax. This groundbreaking formula has German Super Polymers as its foundation. Along with fresh breed of polymers, this paint sealant provides more gloss, depth and protection.
A unique feature of Wolfgang Deep Gloss Paint Sealant 3.0 is its fortified polymer technology. Meguiar’s Mirror Glaze #9 Swirl Remover 2.0 is a cleaner and a polish. It is completely non-abrasive and safe to use for all types of paints. It is highly effective and an easy-to-use product. The ingredients of cleaner remove the sediments around the swirls and scratches, whereas the polishing emollients smooth over the edges of swirls and fill in the damage. The product makes use of diminishing abrasives embodied in rich polishing oils. Thus, the diminishing abrasives remove the defects without leaving behind their own scratch marks.
Pros of Meguiar’s Mirror Glaze #9 Swirl Remover 2.0:
• This is a good product for removing light scratches and adding a shine to the paint. • The product is suitable for finishing automobiles that have very soft paint and clear coats. • It removes light scratches and leaves the surface with a brilliant and dark shine. • It reduces the splatter and makes the cleaning as well as the wipe down process easier. • It is good for cleaning the car before applying wax. • It is a safe polish, with not too many risks. • It gives good shine after filing the scratches. • If the paint on the car is still in good condition and you intend to remove only a few minor swirls, you can skip the polishing process by using this product. • It is easy to use by hand or machine.
Cons of Meguiar’s Mirror Glaze #9 Swirl Remover 2.0:
• The product is heavy with fillers. Thus, when you achieve the look, the defects are not really removed. • It might remove minor or light scratches and swirls, but anything heavier needs a more aggressive product. • The defects
Automobile detailing
A clean automobile is a delight to watch because dirty and dusty cars take the spirit out of going anywhere. Moreover with people spending more time in their cars rather their homes, automobiles become an extended home. Therefore keeping it clean not just from the exterior but the interiors as well is what makes the difference. Auto detailing is the process of thorough cleaning of the automobile along with complete polishing and waxing. The process of detailing initiates cleaning thoroughly not only from the outside but from the inside too. This practice of auto detailing is done not only for personal satisfaction but can be used to prepare the automobile for car shows or to increase its value if resale is intended.
Professional detailers have the requisite knowledge and expertise to carry on the job of auto detailing. They take it as a work of “science and art”. The detailing on scientific grounds includes elements like equipments, chemicals, complete information and knowledge of the surface of vehicles, standards followed by the industry and most importantly the requirements of the customer. The artistic aspect of detailing includes the activities involved in the combination of the above mentioned elements into specific procedures that work according to each situation. Successful completion of the activities produces quality service and a satisfied customer and this is what professional auto detailer aim for.
In detailing industry, there are two main types of polishing machine used. Both machines must be thoroughly understood, because both should be used for different applications. The first is the orbital / dual action buffer and the second is rotary buffer.
The Orbital / Dual Action Buffer
A dual action buffer is a much safer tool than a rotary buffer. By dual action, it means that the pad not only spins in a circle, but it also oscillates (much like applying a product by hand). This results in a random orbit movement of the pad. The random orbit movement of a orbital polished means that it generates far less heat and also it is virtually impossible to apply too much concentrated pressure in one place at one time. This mean that a dual action buffer is much safer than a rotary buffer. It is a more gentle tool so correction work typically takes longer. However it is also safer to use and easier to learn which makes it the ideal beginners’ tool. Using an orbital buffer there is no chance to create buffer swirls or holograms on your car paint as long as you use the appropriate chemicals, buffing pads and bonnets. Because, the orbital polisher is a more gentle tool, the correction work typically takes longer and also there is a limited amount of defects that can be removed. These machines are more restricted when it comes to pad size but are still very capable tools when it comes to paintwork correction and finish. Few orbital buffers are: Kestrel DAS-6 Dual Action Polisher ,

In 1990, Steve (aka Poorboy) was a traveling salesman of sorts with 15 years experience in detailing, taking his distributorship of detailing products on the road, touring with the street rod and classic car circuit. Each weekend he and his girlfriend Judy (now his wife!) would set out in his '67 Caddy Convertible with a trunk full of his favorite products to offer to the competitors of the show. They would launch their road trip on a wish and a prayer, hoping to make enough money to cover the trip. Steve steadily built a reputation for his vast knowledge of products, which ones performed best under which situations, and which ones would deliver the results that a particular customer was after. He had fifteen years of professional detailing under his belt and prided himself on being helpful and honest to his customers. As the years went by he became an authority to the guys on the circuits because they knew that Steve would never steer them wrong. Though not very lucrative, Steve continued working the circuit out of his love of the lifestyle and the great people that he developed a relationship with over the years. The street rod and classic car shows take place mostly in the summer months in a wide open area or field. Throughout the duration of the show the car must be maintained absolutely spotless--ready to be judged at any time. Amazingly, the street rods, classics and antique cars that compete on the circuit range from a $20,000 to $200,000 out- of-pocket investment. Some of the high-end street rods also boast the most advanced paints and most expensive paint jobs anywhere, costing $30,000 to $100,000! Ironically, street rodders and classic car owners are not a wealthy group, but they proudly invest every penny they have into their car. Steve decided to create the perfect product for the guys on the circuit based on their wishes, needs and requests. The bottom line for Steve's products: Economy, ease of use, and application for direct sunlight. An
